The Striped Phoenix
Role: Freelance Designer
Duration: 5+ Years
Tools: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Squarespace
Mozzeria is a Neapolitan pizzeria restaurant that serves traditionally-made and creative pizzas. As a Deaf-owned business, Mozzeria has been a long time client of The Striped Phoenix, having designed several of their branding and promotional materials.
Their branding identity is upscale, clean, and modern. White and black are their brand color. A touch of boldness is using red as their accent color, based on the tomato sauce from the traditional Margherita pizza.

Stationery
For most of their projects, I have designed their stationery such as but not limited to menus, business cards, stamp cards as well as operating manuals.
Promotional Materials
Postcards are often used by the restaurant to up-sell the customer after he checks out. The design is simple and geometric, but also attention-grabbing with images of food.
Posters are used to increase awareness of the restaurant as well as drawing in new customers or generate repeat customers.
Food Truck Wrap
At least over 50 drafts were created before one is decided for Mozzeria's new food truck. Important elements such as the pizza oven, the pizzas themselves, and the hands showing the Italian Sign Language sign for "pizza."

Website Redesign - Home Page
I was tasked with redesigning their website. The original website has a full black background with white text and images so it was too dark and heavy on the eyes. The information and content was cluttered and not responsive. With new professionally shot pictures, a white background, and narrative content, the website has gained many views.

Website Redesign - Menu Page
The original menu page was one long image with small text. In the new page design, the whole menu is all web text and sections are sorted in tabs for easier navigation. The potential customers can easily acquire information about what items they serve before deciding to come to the restaurant, as well as the page being more friendly to web accessibility tools.
Website Redesign - Reserve Page
The original reserve page has a simple form for groups of five or more people, with a phone number and email address to contact for reservations of less than five people. After integrating the Yelp seat reservation tool on the new page, it reduces the staff's time to arrange tables for parties of less than five people.

Website Redesign - Delivery Page
The Delivery page was added with many order buttons to different delivery/pickup websites. Online sales have increased after adding the delivery buttons. The restaurant also started their new Curbside Pick-up service, and a button to initiate the pick up order was added as well.
Website Redesign - Mobile Website
In the time before the redesign, Mozzeria does not have a responsive mobile website. People would have to zoom in on certain elements to look up the menu or find the location of the restaurant which is not ideal. The new website is now mobile friendly so it receives more visits from users who are away from their home computers.
Overview
We've worked closely for many years and the secret to a long business relationship is to be flexible and allow options to the client while adhering to their branding guidelines.
